THE METHOD OF SAYING THE AZAAN

The Mu'athin , the person who says the Athan, should stand in a prominent position with his face turned towards the Qibla . These days a loudspeaker system is also used to say the Athan . The Mu'athin should touch his ears with his index fingers, right finger touching the right ear and the left finger touching the left and recite the Athan in a loud voice.

Say "Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem " (in the Name of Allah, the beneficient the merciful) quiety to yourself.

This should be recited four times in a clear loud voice.

Trasliteration: Allahu Akbar
Translation: Allah is the Greatest

This should be recited twice in a clear loud voice.

Trasliteration: Ash-hadu alla ilaha illallah
Translation: I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah

This should be recited twice in a clear loud voice.

Trasliteration: Ash-hadu anna Muhammadar Rasulullah
Translation: I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

This should be recited twice. He should turn his face towards the right when saying these words in a clear loud voice:

Trasliteration: Hayya alassalah
Translation:Come to Prayer

This should be recired twice. He should turn his face towards the left when saying these words in a clear loud voice:

Trasliteration: Hayya alal-Falah
Translation:Come to success.

During the Athan for Fajr Prayer ONLY, the Mu'athin should also recite these words in a clear loud voice. This should be recited twice.

Trasliteration: AsSalatu khairum-minan-naum Translation: Prayer is better than sleep.

This should be recited twice in a clear loud voice.

Trasliteration: Allahu Akbar
Translation: Allah is the Greatest

This should be recited once in a clear loud voice.

Trasliteration: La ilaha illallah
Translation: There is none worthy of worship except Allah.
